However mean your life is, meet it and live it;

You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling,7 s0 L: e. b& @$ L( o6 m
glorious hours, even in a poor house. The setting sun

I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there,

the most independent lives of any. Maybe they are simply% B, v& U% c) t0 H3 ~5 ?
great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that8 G4 I& a2 a4 ? e2 T& K9 G
they are above being supported by the town;; ?* S; Y! @. |0 e
but it often happens that they are not above
* e4 F) D: V0 D! [& ^" q( x0 H: ] supporting themselves by dishonest means,
3 w1 [7 N3 x6 F: }: K" q which should be more disreputable. Cultivate poverty
; b8 ^4 Q0 }, k2 T6 ]. N$ f like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much e; B% V- k8 i* P7 d9 A
to get new things, whether clothes or friends.1 Z6 D, |& |1 ~( ^+ R' m* N# }) n/ w3 [
Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change.
! L& d! n2 f/ Z" w1 } Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.
